T-Mobile Home Internet Plans
T-Mobile offers 5G Home Internet with flexible pricing options. You can bundle it with a mobile plan for as low as $40 to $50 per month, or opt for a standalone plan at $60 per month.
Our Opinion on T-Mobile Home Internet
T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet is one of the most cost-effective options available, starting at just $40 per month with AutoPay and a mobile plan bundle. As a standalone service, the price is $60 per month.
With T-Mobile’s 5G service, you can expect download speeds up to 245 Mbps and upload speeds up to 31 Mbps, though these may vary depending on your location.
Customers generally express satisfaction with T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet. It topped the American Customer Satisfaction Index with a score of 76/100. Additionally, Allconnect rated it 4.33 out of 5 stars, highlighting customer satisfaction and affordability as standout features.
Potential Downsides
While T-Mobile’s service is appealing, there are some drawbacks. T-Mobile’s Home Internet comes with a monthly data cap of 1.2 terabytes. Exceeding this limit may result in throttled speeds. Moreover, the available TV service add-ons may not meet everyone’s needs.
T-Mobile Internet Contracts, Equipment, and Fees
A significant advantage of T-Mobile Home Internet over traditional providers is the lack of installation appointments and hefty setup fees.
The Gateway device provided by T-Mobile is a sleek, gray cylinder, approximately 8.5 inches tall, with a small touchscreen on top. It features two LAN ports, a USB-C port, a power jack, a UPS device port, and an RJ-11 port for landline telephones.
Other Benefits Include:
-
No hidden fees or contracts
-
Easy setup via a mobile app that guides you through creating your Wi-Fi network

T-Mobile Internet Speeds

Upload speeds were impressive, averaging 54 Mbps, which was significantly higher than traditional cable internet during the same period.
T-Mobile Home Internet vs. Competitors
T-Mobile’s Home Internet is generally more affordable than competitors, though rivals often offer faster speeds. For example, Spectrum provides 500 Mbps for $50 per month. Unlike most providers, T-Mobile includes taxes and fees in its listed price, which can save you an additional $10-15 per month in hidden charges.
My Experience with T-Mobile 5G Internet
T-Mobile shipped the Wi-Fi Gateway device quickly after its April 2021 launch. Over three weeks of testing, I conducted numerous speed tests, attended Zoom meetings, streamed live TV, and connected smart home devices.
There were a few glitches during two Zoom meetings, prompting a switch back to cable internet, but overall, the service performed well. However, it’s worth noting that my usage is not bandwidth-intensive, and larger households with heavy internet usage may experience different results.
